Aretee Day Spa, Grosse Pointe Woods
When: Thursday, March 1
Enjoy a day of being pampered by the Aretee Day Spa staff in Grosse Pointe Woods. Artee Day Spa has offered us to try their Spa Sampler including a manicure, pedicure, a 15 minute massage, and a facial. You
are guaranteed to come out feeling refreshed! There will also be light refreshments served.

Henry Ford Village Senior Living Community, Dearborn
When: Thursday, March 15
Join us for a fun filled day at Henry Ford Village Senior Living Community in Dearborn. We will be able to tour the Henry Ford Clubhouses, which includes the Television Studio, Chapel, Fitness Center Swimming Pool, Woodshop, Art studio, Library and Reading room, Ceramics Studio, Great Lakes Restaurant and much more! You also have the chance to win a gift basket! A delicious lunch will be included.
Cost: Residents $5. Non-residents $8

American Harvest, Livonia
When: Thursday, March 22
Tour Schoolcraft College's Culinary Arts department in Livonia, where the white coat-wearing professional chefs are made. Schoolcraft has been named one of the best culinary schools in America. We will be able to see their $27 million dollar facility and were top chefs are made. After the tour, we will have lunch at the American Harvest Restaurant were students run the kitchen! Lunch will be on your own.

Stations of the Living Cross, Detroit
When: Thursday, March 29
Come with SOC to experience this special performance at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Detroit of the Stations of the Living Cross. Since 2002, Living Stations has performed this musical journey of the realization of what Christ went through on the Cross. This story provides a great cultural experience for all religions.

Spreading It Around at Meadow Brook Theater, Rochester
When: Wednesday, April 4
Join us for lunch at Kruse & Muer and then on to Meadowbrook Theatre to see "Spreading It Around". This D'Arrigo comedy tells the story of when the members of a gated retirement community in Florida decide to share their wealth with a needy community member until their children show up to put a stop to the spending of their inheritance.

MJR Cinema, Sterling Heights
When: Wednesday, April 18
Check out an Academy Award winning film with your SOC friends. You will be able to pick your choice of movie between 12:30 pm and 1:20pm. First we will stop for a bite to eat at Big Boy Restaurant before the movie. Cost of the movie and lunch are on your own.

Phantom of the Opera, Grosse Pointe Farms
When: Wednesday, April 25
Grosse Pointe South High School is having a special matinee performance of the Phantom of the Opera and we are invited! Join your SOC friends as we support the young performers in our community telling the story of the Phantom, who haunts the Paris Opera House. This lonely Phantom develops strong feelings of love for Christine, the lead soprano. The question is will Christine return the feeling?
Cost: Residents $12. Non-residents $15

DSO: A Tribute to Elvis, Detroit
When: Friday, April 27
Tie up your blue suede shoes and join your SOC friends for A Tribute to Elvis at the DSO! Kraig Parker, a legendary Elvis tribute artist, joins the DSO for a new production. You will get to hear some of your favorites including Jailhouse Rock, Heartbreak Hotel, Hound Dog, and much more! Light refreshments will be served. Please note this is a Friday trip.
Cost: Residents $51. Non-residents $54

Pizza and Piano Fridays

Entertainment: Piano music of Alice Laitner
When: Every Friday at 11:00 am
Where: SOC, 159 Kercheval 3rd Floor, Grosse Pointe
Cost: $4

Enjoy the much-loved piano stylings of Alice Laitner, along with pizza, salad, beverage, chocolate sundae dessert, and a box lunch to take home. No reservation necessary.

St. Patrick's Day Party and Birthday Celebration

Entertainment: Little Big Band
When: Wed, March 14,  11:00 am
Where: St. James Lutheran Church, 170 McMillan at Kercheval, GP Farms
Cost: $15 per person

If you have a birthday in March, come to SOC and we will celebrate this very special occasion with you. You will get a piece of cake with a candle and then we will sing happy birthday to you in at least three different languages. You also will receive a keepsake photo to take home. Then, because we are all Irish today, come
and help us celebrate St. Patrick's Day! You will enjoy a traditional Irish meal catered by the Blue Pointe Restaurant consisting of corned beef and cabbage, boiled red skin potatoes, carrots, coleslaw, roll and butter, a beverage and dessert. Entertainment will be provided by the much loved The Little Big Band. A raffle will
follow all of the festivities plus don't forget to take home your box lunch!

Pizza and a Great Movie

When: Selected Wednesday each month at 11 am

February 29: Secretariat (2010)
Denver housewife and mother Penny Chenery (Diane Lane) agrees to take over her ailing father's Virginia-based Meadow Stables, despite her lack of horse racing knowledge. With the help of veteran trainer Lucien Laurin (John Malkovich), Chenery manages to navigate the male-dominated business, ultimately fostering the first Triple Crown winner in 25 years and one of the greatest racehorses of all time. Running time 123 minutes.

March 28: Annie's Point (2005)
A recently widowed grandmother, (Betty White), is determined to grant her husband's last wish that she set his ashes free over the idyllic bluff they called Annie's Point. When her son, (Richard Thomas) refuses to let his mother make the two-thousand-mile trip, she takes off anyway with her free-spirited granddaughter in tow.  (Note: This movie is highly recommended by our SOC Director, Sharon Maier, so you know it's got to be good!). Running time 87 minutes.

April 25: Moneyball (2011)
Oakland A's general manager Billy Beane (Brad Pitt) challenges the system and defies conventional wisdom when his is forced to rebuild his small-market team on a limited budget. Despite opposition from the old guard, the media, fans and their own field manager (Philip Seymour Hoffman), Beane - with the help of a young, number-crunching, Yale-educated economist (Jonah Hill) - develops a roster of misfits and along the way, forever changes the way the game is played. Running time 133 minutes.

A Prom for Senior Citizens

When: Thursday, May 17 from 5 pm to 8 pm

Rick Steves' Vienna - Wed. March 21 at 11:30 am
